Heart of Holly Springs Award

Twenty-six years ago, Chris and Marilyn took a leap of faith. With a vision, a single room, and an unwavering belief in the power of dance, they opened Holly Springs School of Dance in 1998. What began as a small program has flourished into a vibrant home for thousands of dancers, now filling an entire building on Oak Hall with six studios—a testament to their dedication and the impact they have made on this community.
But the true magic of Holly Springs School of Dance is not just in the steps, the routines, or the performances—it is in the way Chris and Marilyn pour their hearts into every student who walks through their doors.

They have created a space where dance is not about trophies or competition, but about expression, artistry, and personal growth. A place where dancers of all ages—from children to adults—can find joy, confidence, and community.

Their impact is not just felt in the studio, but throughout the entire community. They have led Relay for Life, a cancer walk supporting those battling illness. They have raised over $125,000 for the Meg’s Smile Foundation, bringing moments of joy to children and families facing unimaginable hardships. They have held food drives, lifted spirits during the pandemic with messages of hope, and ensured that everyone, no matter their background or ability, feels included and celebrated.

For their unwavering commitment, their boundless generosity, and the way they have woven themselves into the very heart of Holly Springs, we are honored to present Chris and Marilyn Chappell with the Heart of Holly Springs Award.

Welcome!

2024 Business Leader of the Year Award

Dr. Phil Vito didn’t just open a business when he founded Holly Springs Eye Associates in 1999—he made a commitment. A commitment to his patients, to his team, and to Holly Springs for 25 years.

From the moment he set up shop, he joined the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce—and has remained a loyal member ever since. But Dr. Vito’s leadership isn’t just about longevity; it’s about the way he shows up. He is also an active member of Rotary and was an integral part of Holly Springs Lions Club.

He’s the kind of doctor who never rushes a patient out the door—because to him, you’re not just an appointment on the schedule, you’re a person who deserves to be seen and heard. He’s the kind of boss whose team stays with him for years—because he’s built a workplace where people feel valued. And he’s the kind of leader who still handles the IT work in his office—because to him, no job is too small when it contributes to the greater good.

That kind of humility, that kind of dedication, is what true leadership looks like.
Dr. Vito’s influence goes beyond his practice. He has spent decades giving back, helping Holly Springs grow, and setting an example of what it means to lead with integrity, fairness, and heart. His commitment to his patients, his team, and his community is why Holly Springs is better because he’s in it.

2024 Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce Nonprofit of the Year

For 14 years, the Holly Springs Food Cupboard has stood as a pillar of hope, offering more than just food—they offer comfort, dignity, and the reassurance that no one has to struggle alone.

This past year alone, they've provided food to 6,248 households, a 19% increase from the previous year—showing us just how many people in our own community are facing hardship. Packed over 7,000 meal bags for school-aged children, ensuring that no child goes to bed hungry. Delivered Thanksgiving meals to nearly 500 families, because everyone deserves the warmth of a shared holiday meal. Logged an astonishing 18,852 volunteer hours, proving that kindness and generosity are alive and well in Holly Springs.

But the real impact of the Holly Springs Food Cupboard isn’t found in numbers. It’s found in the stories—the moments of relief, of gratitude, of restored hope.
It’s in the single mother who walks through their doors, weary from worry, and leaves knowing her children will have food on the table. It’s in the elderly neighbor who no longer has to choose between buying medicine or groceries. It’s in the volunteer who gives their time, not for recognition, but simply because they know helping others is the greatest gift we can give.

This organization reminds us that community is not just about where we live—it’s about how we take care of one another.

2024 Parrish “Ham” Womble Distinguished Service Award

Ham Womble, lived by a simple but powerful belief: if you have the ability to help, you do it. He believed that the strength of a community is measured not by its businesses, buildings, or growth, but by the kindness of its people.

Mark Campbell, Endurance Fence Solutions, LLC is the kind of person who sees every challenge as an opportunity to serve. He isn’t just a business owner—he is a friend, a neighbor, a mentor, and a leader who understands that true success isn’t about what you accomplish for yourself, but what you do for others.

Through Ainsley’s Angels and the Smile and Roll program, he has helped individuals with special needs experience the joy of crossing a finish line—something many of them never imagined possible.

Through Endurance Fence and Southwest Greens of Raleigh, he has built more than just fences—he has built a reputation for kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for those in need.

Mark’s acts of service extend far beyond his business. When a Vietnam veteran was approved for a service dog but couldn’t afford the fence required to bring his companion home, Mark stepped in—without hesitation, without question—because that’s just who he is.

When a mother recovering from surgery needed help, Mark made sure she had groceries on her table and a way for her children to get to school so she could rest and heal.

When a mother and her children were escaping domestic violence last Christmas, Mark connected with others to ensure they had a safe and joyful holiday.

He serves as a Rotarian, a board member, and a leader on the Executive Committee. He has volunteered for Autism Awareness Day with the Brady Valcho Autism Foundation and is on the leadership team for Launch Holly Springs, helping entrepreneurs chase their dreams.

Mark is not just a business leader—he is a safe place for so many in this town. People confide in him in their hardest moments, knowing that he will offer a listening ear, encouragement, and a helping hand.
